*isigude (pronounced - e-see-goo-de... meaning bird of paradise) is a newly founded record label based in athens, greece. for our debut release we have dug deep into the archives of greek jazz fusion to unearth and reissue some obscurities from the catalogue of esteemed composer michalis rakintzis. rakintzis should need no introduction to greek ears, widely recognised as a celebrated composer and lyricist since the 1980s with his career taking in more than 20 personal albums, numerous singles and several high profile collaborations. his composition “arrest”, lifted from 1988 s ost to the film -lifelong- was selected and included on the hugely popular greek music compilation -into the light- in 2012. for isigude s first 12- vinyl release we draw our focus to the 1987 track “i don’t believe” featuring vocalist eleni dimou. -i don t believe- combines pop, rock and eastern melodies and feelings and sold more than 100.000 on it s original release. featured here in remixed form by up and coming greek producer zaq (a.k.a img_02) the original composition is reimagined and the result is a low tempo dreamy, balearic disco burner with dimou s lyrics expressing her disbelief in love, beautiful moments, oaths and sacrifices, with her requesting to be set free. a truly beautiful and tasteful reimagining of a lost rarity, the perfect way to launch the label.

after debuting their label with the return of headhunter, the trusik team returns with their second vinyl release from the ever-illusive ruffcut faculty member tremble. tremble has quietly made his presence known with reggae influenced tunes that are simultaneously roughly hewn, yet meticulous detailed in sound design. for trsk002, tremble gives us “too much terror”, which with all the daily attacks on civilians across the nations of the world, seems prescient. what starts out as sound system inspired roller slowly morphs into a technoid fusion of dread sub weight and dub techno chord flourishes. on the flipside, tremble simmers the tempo down to the 130ish range with “bwoy”. dancehall indebted sub detonations output cut vicious shapes while filtered rasta portents gradually build into a technoid climax. two killer sides for the concerning djs! for trsk002, trusik has incorporated artist ben ladieu’s immaculate pen and ink drawing into the overall aesthetic of the release. ladieu’s work is often dense, multi-layered and full of little hidden details that draw comparisons to 80’s diy punk flyers and zeke clough’s contributions to seminal dubstep label skull disco and woe to the septic heart.

jesus was black goes to chile thanks to the new vinyl release by the hand of producer andre butano & felipe. push cat ep, the artists first release for the label, is a refreshing fusion of the organic beats and the avant-garde music. the title track brings on an underground micro house essence with a thick bass rhythm and crazy voices. the ep features two cold remixes from the spanish talent jairo catelo (darkroom dubs, plastic city) with his bubbling synths and house rhythms making a master deep piece. jorge savoretti (viva music, little helpers) make it with hypnotic broken beats and maintains the deep feel that brought him to jesus was black. closing the ep we can find an awesome original track like -rework- with vinyl popping accents and a couple of vocal hooks, a track to make everyone sweat on the dance floor.

daniele baldelli producer now has nothing to envy about daniele baldelli the dj. this is demonstrated by the authoritativeness of the first two 12”s of six in the series -cosmic temple” on the mondo groove label. what first strikes the eye are the covers, with fluorescent colors, which will form a patchwork created by aldo drudi (the designer of valentino rossi), a large mosaic that interprets garish aesthetics/logoa cosmic. but immediately after the music takes the stage: 3 tracks in -chapter 1- and 3 tracks in -chapter 2-, are able to tell the true mood of the imaginary baldelli’s sound and take them to a land of wonders. chapter 1: numbers like thyratron, with ricky burattini (justofunk) on piano, playing a utopian fusion as if peter daou was weaned at cosmic in lazise (italy) instead of the paradise garage in new york, or inner light, francesca amati with the voice, which is pure 2015 electro-pop, and the rhythmic bass on diffrazione.

2016 is shaping to be a fantastic year for rebirth records, the 10th year anniversary and the 100th release…to celebrate this special date the label owner shield and his right arm robytek get in the studio to collaborate with two of the most innovative figures of the end of 70s / early 80s. the a side is the the pyramids with isabelle antena, french singer and songwriter, founding member of electro-samba pioneers antena. in the 1990s she also led another group, the powaga sisters, for three albums between until 2004. alongside these projects she maintained a solo music career, selling over a million albums and earning musical acclaim across the globe. from camino del sol (1982) to bossa super nova (2010), her cool latin, bossa, jazz and funk vibes have delighted ears and feet worldwide. the pyramids is something really special, a cosmic and balearic song with a timeless meaning, with the collaboration of martin ditcham (sade s percussionist) for the drum and paolo mantini, a real italian talent, for the bass and chords. the aa side is now, a collaboration with salvatore principato (sal p.) and dennis young, known as the vocalist and marimba/percussionist of (for the legendary early 80 s nyc band liquid liquid) seminal nyc minimalist-funk band liquid liquid. the experimental sounding band emerged from new york city s vibrant downtown scene in 1981, developing their own unique sound which they called big beat, a fusion of irresistible basslines, junkyard percussion and urgent, free-flowing lyrics. the group s successes included club hits such as cavern (sampled by grandmaster flash in the making of white lines), bellhead and optimo in addition to sold-out concerts worldwide. sal p and dennis still explore today new ways of writing & performing music. now is the experimental way to combine the live drums played by snacks (the berlin based duo rene corbett & aljoscha babel), with the electronic world and the unique musical textures from sal p and dennis young.

kicking off this four track ep is one of yuri s most dynamic productions to date. wildly oscillating synths and snapping handclap-led house beats drive east west connection , while what starts out as an acid synth shifts through a cycle of changes before evolving into a detroit-style riff. both nervous arp and morning at home take the same palette of sounds into much deeper territory, touching base with electro funk and straight up jazz-fusion, highlighting yuri s versatile musicality and distinctive production style. modular is an older track of yuris - a non-stop ride through wonky, synthesized fusion with hypnotic keys and rolling drums.

the jazzinvaders went back into the studio after two successful tours with hammond legend dr lonnie smith and the brazilian fusion group azymuth. the jazzinvaders decided it would be fun to spend some time in the studio to see if they could come up with a disco-jazz album.

having unleashed the beast that is his debut lp columbusing, thatmanmonkz grants a couple more heavyweight producers permission to get busy with the sonic manglers for remixes of turn it out and boogie down. first up, one of the vocalist contributors to the lp dave aju (known for his releases on circus company) takes on his own track turn it out, transforming the original from a backyard bbq summer jam into some kind of mutant electro p-funk meets broken- beat fusion. a filtered bass line and bare bones 808 kicks are what this track is all about forming the perfect rhythmic union with the vocal.

for its 4th release, malka tuti is welcoming j.a.k.a.m. to its ever-expanding family. born in tokyo japan, j.a.k.a.m. has been been one of the leading figures developing the music scene in japan from the early 90s as a dj, producer and a band member. his wide variety of musical influences ranges from house, hip hop, drum&bass, techno, reggae, jazz, rock and world music. with combining these different styles of inspirations and tradition, he creates the most unique time and space on the dance floor, a kind of fusion of early tribal house (recording live instruments in the studio), world music with a pinch of shamanic spiritual vibes. on his ep for malka tuti he delivers 2 original epic tunes, followed by a smokey dub version by versatile records boss gilb r and a total dance-floor smashing remix by aussie prodigy - dreems.

the uk s newly inaugurated future primitive label holds a candle to its name by unearthing two leo anibaldi productions from deep within the roman s voluminous back catalogue. the two-track 12- debut sees anibaldi provide the label with a contemporary stretched edit of 1994 production -fusion 1-, a cut lifted from the aeon ep originally released on the now defunct italian label, acv. future primitive has also given ambient number -evocation part ii- a full remaster and b-side privileges, honouring an esoteric production from anibaldi s void lp that was originally released on aphex twin s rephlex label in 1996.

this instrumental hip-hop 45 is an ode to the love of jazz fusion and that dusty sound with a handful of tracks recorded from 2013/2015. both of the tracks love fusion & floating were made over the course of three epic days locked in the studio on the mpc 2500. as simiah tells it, “diamonds for me was basically the tipping point to where i could rock new grooves. it was like i had made another mistake, but it was a step in the right direction. new chops and new vibes.”  the cover art is by j byles with the layout by bee. full colour artwork in a sleeve with spine

james k is a stranger to obviousness. over the past few years the new york native has quietly honed her sound and peculiar aesthetic. equally organic and electronic, her sound is a combination of odd dreams, industrial beats and vocals, both incomprehensible and appealing, with a thick layer of glitter on top of it. james k is a concentrated dose of emotion mixed with sorrowful iciness, which in turn ties together ripped, broken, morphed and enchanted samples. james k stands for a fusion of visual and sonic elements, deeply rooted in conscious art practice and downright freak-out. james k creates a mythology of her own. pet, her first lp due out in early 2016, will be a co-release with dial and her own label, she rocks!

terence fixmer his known in the late 90s , early 2000s as the creator of the tbm, described as techno body music. a mixture of the ebm soundscape with the modernity of techno. his muscle machine album (including tracks lile electrostatic, body pressure) released in 2001 became a reference of the genre. in 2003, musician terence fixmer and legendary singer from cultissism band nitzer ebb, douglas j mccarthy embarked on a project that spearheaded the fusion of techno and ebm. they named it fixmer/mccarthy and they were the precursor to a new breed of techno artists that manage to traverse between an array of scene specific genres without being tied to any. since releasing their first album, >between the devil<, in 2003 terence and douglas have ridden the line between pure techno and the recognizable song structure of classic electronic music and ebm. now, with over 13 years working together for this project and playing around the world, they return to their signature raw sound and delivery. >so many lies< is quintessential and brooding techno, while the instinct mix epitomizes their ability to craft a catchy bubbling baseline whilst all the while dispatching cold steel aggression.

high mobility weapons unit continues its exploration, entering an unknown solar system and landing on a desolate mining planet. the counter rockets ep is the second release on the imprint, drawing influences from heavier, lo-fi territories, whilst still maintaining hmwu s characteristic space techno sound. the a-side starts off with the title track, counter rockets , which is a dj tool that combines functional bleeps with machine processed percussion. a2 serves up abandoned interstellar tomb , a fusion of atmospheric deep space bass and jacking drum patterns. on the b-side, deep sea deposit kicks things off with a poly-woven synth line that contorts and shifts throughout the track. finally, excavation site rolls along with its muted melodies and haunting fx, all built above a floor of sub-bass.
